The Laurie Hawkins Scholarship
In memory of Ontario Provincial Police Constable Laurie Hawkins OWLE members and their children may be eligible for this scholarship.
About The Scholarship:
On December 1, 2008, Constable Laurie Hawkins was found unconscious
near her husband Richard, daughter Cassandra, and son Jordan, at
their family home in Woodstock. Laurie’s husband and children
appeared to have succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning and were
pronounced dead at the scene. Laurie survived a short time however
eventually she too succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning.
This Scholarship fund has been implemented by Ontario Women in Law
Enforcement in memory of Laurie Hawkins. Constable Laurie Hawkins
was a 20 year veteran with the Ontario Provincial Police. She was the
Community Service Officer in Oxford County.
During her career Laurie was recognized for her work in the
community. In 2006, Laurie received the Ontario Women in Law
Enforcement Laura Ellis Community Service Award.
OWLE Members pursuing continuing education and children of OWLE members may qualify for scholarship funds.
Applications must be post marked no later than March 12, 2012.
