Heritage Award for Lifetime Achievement
Deputy Chief Donna Moody is a true professional with 32 yrs of dedicated and diverse experience. She has served throughout the entire Niagara region. She developed expertise in the area of criminal investigation including intelligence, drug investigation, youth crime, major crime, undercover assignments and professional standards.
Deputy Chief Moody began her career as a cadet in 1974. She has moved through the ranks with professionalism, leadership and certainly, as a skilled communicator.
She is a member of both OWLE and Iinternational Association of Women Police. As a matter of fact, she is a previous OWLE award winner and so impressed the IAWP awards committee, she was honoured in 2000, with the “excellence in perfromance” award at the IAWP conference held here in Toronto.
Deputy Chief Moody is quite active at the provincial and federal levels of policing. Currently, with the OACP, she sits as chair of the substance abuse committee. Additionally, she has been recognized for her contribution to the Criminal Intelligence Services of Ontario and to Criminal Intelligence Services of Canada. Due to Niagara’s proximity to the U.S., Deputy Chief Moody is also well known to our american neighbours.
Without question, one of the highlights of her long and outstanding career was as chair of the Ontario Special Olympic summer games hosted by her service in 2005, one of the most financially successful games ever held in Ontario.
Most importantly, Donna has set an example for all women not only in policing but in the community as well.
